Urban Axes Tournament After Party at the Baltimore Museum of Industry

Urban Axes Tournament After Party at the Baltimore Museum of Industry

First of all, this is my favorite venue. Seriously, I love it here. There’s cool stuff everywhere and it’s lit by neon signs and decroated with old trains and cars. Secondly, these are absolutely my kind of people. Pink tutus, green velvet jackets, platform boots, too many tattoos to count, plus they’ve been throwing axes all day. Hell, yeah!

They came to party, too! If your event doesn’t end like this one with screaming and singing and sweaty head-banging, did you even have fun?

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege to photograph many of the presenting speakers including our current Governor Hogan. I was especially looking forward to Anirban Basu (my favorite economist) and Freeman Hrabowski, the president of UMBC. I had never heard MaryBeth Hyland but the three created an absolute powerhouse onstage to round out the day.

Joe Flacco Meet and Eat

Joe Flacco Meet and Eat

I had no idea who I was photographing until a few days before the event. This private party was for forty lucky guests who got to ask Joe Flacco questions, have their photo taken with the star quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens and have him sign their jerseys. One guest walked away with a signature neck tie!
